Lech

Description Pictures Facts
When the first skier wedeled his way across the Arlberg slopes - and it just happened to be the vicar of Warth - no one ever imagined that the 700-year-old village would one day be a world-famous ski resort. Lech with Oberlech, Stubenbach, Zug and Zürs create a single large ski region with plenty of variety whose pistes end at the hotel door, and where guests from all over the world feel completely at home. Despite its excellent, worldwide reputation, Lech has never lost its homely character, harmonious architecture and comfortably, welcoming atmosphere.
The ski pistes, ski routes and open slopes are spread between 1,450 m (4,757 ft) and 2,800 m (9,186 ft) above sea level. Cable cars, chair and drag lifts travel between the Rüfikopf, Madlock, Kriegerhorn and Mohnenfluh, transporting winter guests to the most beautiful slopes for skiers of all abilities. With 86 cable cars and lifts, 270 km (167 miles) of well-tended pistes and 170 km (105 miles) of open slopes, there is plenty of variety for every skier. The touch-free electronic "Arlberg-Skicard" is valid in the resorts of Zürs, Stuben, St. Anton and St. Christoph. There are also some 400 skiing instructors - masters of their craft who are sought after all over the world.
There's a Fun Park for snowboarders, 26 km (16 miles) of cross country tracks, 15 km (9 miles) of winter hiking trails, a natural toboggan run (floodlit in the evenings), horse-drawn sleigh rides, and numerous events throughout the season - ranging from Christmas markets to the Freeride contest. Accommodation is available in every category, but always of the same high standard, and there are endless wellness facilities to ensure our guests' wellbeing. Restaurants, open-air snow bars, indoor bars and dancing provide entertainment after the day on the slopes. And in addition to every modern comfort provided for guests, we have also remembered the environment as well: thanks to the tunnel system, Oberlech is a traffic-free zone; the biomass heating plant provides heating and hot water for the majority of the buildings in Lech, traffic restrictions in the resorts and the carefully planned car parking facilities have all helped to raise the quality of life for residents and visitors.

Located about 200 km from Zurich and 120 km from Innsbruck, you’ll probably fly into Zurich, although the trip can be just as easy from Munich or Innsbruck. Driving from Zurich, take the expressway to St. Gallen, then to Feldkirch and from there via Bludenz and Dalaas to Lech and Zürs. From Zurich, it’s a little over three hours by car.
