The world of ice at the Hintertux glacier is a true miracle of nature, that enchants every visitor to this unique visual backdrop. Most people know that you can even ski and snowboard on the Hintertux glacier during the summer. Many people are probably aware of the fact that snow turns into ice after a certain period. But there are few who actually know what it looks like inside the ice giant.
The Hintertux glacier consists of about 190 million cubic metres of ice – in turn corresponds 171 billion litres of water!
The Glacier Bus 3 quickly and comfortably whisks you to the airy height of 3,250 metres, for dream runs and impressive views. Here, winter lasts longer than anywhere else. The Hintertux Glacier offers 40-60 km powdersnow pistes in autumn and 86 km with valley descents in winter. May brings the traditional spring snow weeks “The snow goes on”.
Fun, games, action and adventure – our young guests won’t have a chance to be bored, no matter whether they’re taking the valley lifts or the children’s gondolas, playing on the Fairytale Meadow, taking a spin on the carousel or riding the Magic Carpet. Here children (three years of age and older) can learn the art of skiing, carving and snowboarding in a playful manner in the ski kindergarten. But that’s not all – there’s also tobogganing, children’s paragliding, building snowmen, lantern tours, ice skating, Bavarian curling and even more. And our youngest guests (less than three years old) are well looked after in the guest kindergarten.
Located about 375 km from Zurich, Hintertux can be reached by both using car or public transportation. Driving via St. Gallen and Feldkirch you need to drive further on the Inn Valley Motorway - Exit: Ziller Valley. From there, take federal highway B169 to Mayrhofen, then the Tux road to Hintertux.
