The god in control of time has a weakness for Crans-Montana. Perched on a plateau overlooking the Rhone valley, Crans-Montana has the advantage of a Mediterranean microclimate. There is never a shortage of sunshine and the air there is the purest and the most beneficial in Switzerland. It is the paradox of present-day living that people also come to Crans-Montana to recharge their batteries with oxygen and energy.
Skiing, snowboarding and golf are the strengths of Crans-Montana. Another sporting discipline is trying however to steal the place of honour from the so-called "traditional" categories: shopping. All the great names of Italian and French fashion and the Swiss master clock and watchmakers are duty-bound to be present at Crans-Montana. Whilst the atmosphere there is gentle, the passing guests above all appreciate the typical Swiss discretion and the great security which reigns there. An oasis of peace in the centre of Europe which nothing tampers with.
A few small errands allow you to meet up with friends you haven't seen since the evening before (or more recently). An animated night life electrifies the Haut-Plateau. A touch of nocturnal extravagance is totally innocuous… The sports or leisure activities the next day will make up for any excesses. Life virtually never stops and any season is the right season in this resort which is active for more than ten months per year.
Crans-Montana also receives the leading lights of international politics and economics in its impressive Conference Centre. Gaining altitude would appear to be an excellent driving force for reflection and strategic decisions… It should be said.
Crans-Montana is first and foremost the mountain, but a gentle mountain, on this plateau which is a break from the steep slopes. You find yourself in the heart of one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Alps, with the finest 4,000 around you: Matterhorn, Weisshorn, Dent-Blanche and Mont-Blanc.
Located 300 km from Zurich and 180 km from Geneva Crans-Montana can be reached by either using public transportation or a car. If you decide to come by car you need to take the A9 motorway from Geneva to Sierre. Once in Sierre, follow the signs to Crans-Montana. Arriving from Zurich go through Lötschberg tunnel and then onto the A9 to Sierre. If you decide to take the train, swiss federal railway will take you from Geneva to Crans-Montana in about 2 hours 50 minutes with transfer in Sierre. From Zurich it takes about 4 hours 30 minutes.
