Big Sky

Description Pictures Facts
Big Sky has three mountains to delight skiers and snowboarders. Lone Mountain is the resort's signature peak, rising to a lofty 11,166 feet. The Lone Peak Tram takes the adventuresome to its very apex, with 3,600 acres, 4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet, and European-style expert terrain below. Adjacent Andesite Mountain has some of the resort's most notable intermediate cruising runs, some comfortable south-facing beginner trails, several expert tree runs, and a giant halfpipe and terrain park. Flat Iron Mountain is on the eastern shoulder of Andesite and offers even more variety. In the draw between Andesite and Lone Mountains, you'll find Big Sky's designated in-bounds snowshoe trail: Moose Tracks. Big Sky shares two chairlifts with Moonlight Basin resort.
But there is still more to Big Sky than just its unforgettable setting near Yellowstone Park. Such as 400 inches (1,016 cm) of annual snowfall, 85 miles (136.7 km) of named runs and lots of elbow room. Lift lines are basically non-existent here (18 lifts). The skiing and riding is the ultimate experience.

The resort is 45 miles south of Bozeman airport (and 50 miles north of West Yellowstone) on Highway 191 along the Gallatin River.
