Andermatt

Description Pictures Facts
Andermatt, Hospental and Realp, located in the Gotthard holiday region, have lots to offer. In winter the valley (Urserntal) becomes a huge ski arena and in summer the region offers a wide range of activities for every preference, whether hiking, biking, golfing, mountain climbing, fishing, playing tennis or paragliding. Pleasant and inexpensive hotels, pensions, apartments, bed and breakfast as well as a campsite will make you feel at home during your stay. The cuisine offers you many delicious local dishes. We have everything you need for an unforgettable stay. In the midst of this breathtaking Alpine scenery, you will easily escape the busy daily life, begin to relax and have a good time.
When winter comes to Andermatt, the Ursern valley turns into a fantastic ski area with 25 lifts and 130 km of well-prepared pistes, which invite you to spend a great day in the snow. On the top of the nearly 3,000 meter high Gemsstock, a spectacular panoramic view of more than 600 summits makes your heart beat faster. On the Gemsstock, there is one of the very first alpine runs created especially for carvers. The Bernhard-Russi-Run, a famous ski run down the glacier, got its name in honour of the winner of the Olympic games in Sapporo. The Gemsstock, scene of a series of exciting events, has long been a “secret” amongst snowboarders and off-piste skiers.
The ski area offers a wide range of pistes for every standard. Beginners such as free riders will find the loveliest runs in the Gotthard area.

Located 120 km from Zurich Andermatt can easily be reached by either car or public transportation. If you decide to come by car head towards Bern-Basel and then switch later onto the A2. By taking the “Göschenen” exit from the A2 you arrive in Andermatt after another 10 minutes. The whole trip from Zurich takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. If you decide to take the train, swiss federal railway will get you to Andermatt in just under 2 hours with transfers in Göschenen and possibly Arth-Goldau.
