This is a resort where skiers and boarders can graduate to off-piste terrain, mastering skills along the marked runs and then slowly stretching to ski the trees, unmarked runs and hike-to bowls.
To get to Alpine Meadows from San Francisco you need to take the Interstate 80-East to Truckee, California (about 200 miles from San Francisco). At Truckee, take the State Route 89-South exit, drive 10 miles, and take a right on Alpine Meadows Road. Follow this to the end (another 3 miles).
Alternatively you can drive from Reno, which is about 45 miles from Truckee. Simply take the Interstate 80-West to arrive in Truckee.
