Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is the largest private reserve in South Africa enclosing an area of 900 sq. kms. Tswalu Reserve is located in the Kalahari desert in Northern Cape Province, it lies 700 kms from Johannesburg and 270 kms from Uppington. Tswalu offers a real desert experience with breathtaking landscapes and sunsets in this historic home of the bushman.
Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is committed to restoring and maintaining this unique desert habitat which includes unique desert species such as desert black rhino, gemsbok, springbok as well as other species including sable, roan, eland, kudu, lion, white rhino, cheetah, giraffe, buffalo, and leopard.
Over 250 species of birds can be seen at Tswalu including the Secretary Bird, Kori Bustard and Korhaan. Huge migrations of Sandgrouse and one of the largest colonies of Sociable Weavers. Also many different species of Raptor.
