Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa and one of the largest freestanding mountains in the world. What Mount Kilimanjaro is famous for, is its constant white cap on the summit. At the border of Tanzania and Kenya it lies just south of the Equator. It is a very active volcano, although there were no recent eruptions. Around the Mount Kilimanjaro, there is the Kilimanjaro National Park. The volcano rises from a plain in the hot savanna, close to the Indian Ocean.
