Switzerland: Nature & Wildlife

Swiss National Park

Description
In the National Park nature is left to develop freely. Humans remain in the background and are merely witnesses of the evolution that contributes so greatly to the incomparable landscapes of the park. The Swiss National Park is the largest protected area in Switzerland and the country’s only National Park. It is designed by the international Union for Conservation of Nature in category of highest protection level. Geologically, the Park is situated in the Engadine Dolomites. Dolomite looks very similar to limestone. By the end of May trails in the lower and sunnier parts become accessible. Trails in the higher areas remain under snow. July and August are the ideal moment to visit the National Park. Days are long and temperatures agreeable.
