Ichkeul National Park
|
|
|
Ichkeul National Park is an important bird sanctuary, particularly during winter, when the water of Lake Ichkeul and the surrounding marshes are home to more than 200,000 migratory waterfowl from all over Europe. The parkland preserves an isolated and wooded massif. Birds are the most visible animals in the park. Mammals in the park include otter and wild boar.
Ichkeul National Park is easily accessed from Tunis and northern resorts, and is the only National Park in Tunisia with facilities for visitors.
The park has been recognized as a United Nations Educational World Heritage Site.
