Fjords

Description
The Fjords in Norway are over deepened valleys, usually narrow and very steep-sided, up to 1300m deep. They extend below sea level and are filled with salt water. A fjord is formed when a glacier retreats after carving its U-shaped valley and because these fjords are connected to the sea, the sea fills them up. Some of the world’s largest coral reefs were found along the bottoms of the Norwegian fjords. These reefs are home to thousands of life forms.
