Mount Cook National Park

Beschreibung
The Aoraki Mount Cook National Park covers approximately 70.000 hectares and together with the Westland National Park, it forms a World Heritage Park. Mount Cook National Park is Located within New Zealand’s Southern Alps. There are 72 named Glaciers cover 40% of the park’s area. Over 750 different Native flowering plants are found in the park. Among them, the famed Mount Cook Lily is the largest buttercup in the world. Approximately 40 species of birds are found in the park and the most distinctive of these is the Kea, well known for its antics. The climate within the village is typical for a mountainous area. Temperatures can range from above 30 degree Celsius in the summer to below –10 degrees Celsius during the winter months. The village also experiences a high level of rainfall each year. There is an abundance of native flora and fauna within the Mount Cook National Park, including some things that you won't see anywhere else in the world!
