Menjangan Island is located offshore of the mountainous point in far northwestern Bali. Because the island is in a protected position, currents and wind-generated waves rarely disturb the dives. The reefs here offer fine diving, particularly for beginning and intermediate divers. The excellent visibility (25 to 50 m) and stunning drop off’s provide the perfect backdrop for the many marine species that live here. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the open water as Menjangan is often visited by some of the larger pelagic species like Manta, Spotted Eagle Rays, Tuna, Trevalley, Barracuda and occasionally Whale Sharks as well as Napoleon fish, Black and White Tip Reef Shark, Bumphead Parrot Fish and the Giant Frog Fish.
The coral walls around Menjangan are vertical down to 30-60 m, and then slope outward.
The drive from the resort areas of the south is at least three hours, so recommended cities to stay are Singaraja, Lovina Beach, or Permuteran on the north coast.
