The Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley’s spectacular glacial landscapes of rough cliffs and glaciers cover an area of 4,247-ha which is 9% of the total area of Andorra. It portrays precedent changes in climate, economic wealth and social systems, as well as the persistence of pastoralism and a strong mountain culture. The site contains houses, particularly summer settlements, terraced fields, stone tracks, and evidence of iron smelting.
