The Wild West is still alive in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where real-life cowboys still roam the streets and rodeos and (staged) shoot-outs still take place.
Just walking on the wooden sidewalks around the elk-antler arches of the town square makes you feel like you're a part of the Old West. From the Wild West shoot-out that takes place every night in summer to the horse-drawn carts, there are plenty of opportunities to give you a taste of what Wyoming life would have been like in the frontier days.
The Wild West Shoot-out is a popular, free re-enactment of frontier justice that takes place in the town square every day at 6.15pm in summer. The Jackson Hole rodeo is a real-life cowboy competition with bull riding, team roping, barrel racing and so on. It takes place on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 8pm in the summer season - for full details, please check with your hotel or the Chamber of Commerce.
