Finger Lakes is New York State's largest wine producing region, with the majority of production centred around Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua and Keuka lakes. The lakes themselves serve to protect the grapes from the harsh winters and hot summers and so the vineyards flourish in what might be considered an inhospitable climate.

There are three separate wine trails to be taken in Finger Lakes, which boasts the largest concentration of wineries in the United States east of California.
