Voted the best in North America and one of the top five in the world, the Big Sur International Marathon has been described as gruelling, spectacular, unforgiving, rewarding and spiritual by previous runners.
The race begins one kilometre south of Pfeiffer State Park in Big Sur and continues north up the coast through redwoods, over three bridges and past the Palo Colorado Canyon, with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean throughout.
