Dunhill Links Championship
When: Sep 2007 (annual)
Where: Carnoustie Golf Links
The three qualifying rounds of the Dunhill Links Championship are played over three separate courses: St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. The cut is then made for the fourth round, played at St Andrews. The tournament is unusual in that the field is made up of both professionals and amateurs, many of whom are more famous than the golfers they are playing with.

Teams of two comprise one pro and one amateur. The top 60 pros and those tying for 60th place then make the cut for the final day. Two competitions run concurrently, an individual one for the Pros and another for the combined team.

Conceived as a celebration of links golf and replacing the Alfred Dunhill Cup, 2001 was the first year for this new format, and most people deemed it to be a success. The likes of Michael Douglas and Boris Becker have been included in the competing celebrity amateurs, obviously thrilled to be playing alongside the world's top golfers. With total prize money totalling over US$5million, the event is the most lucrative golf event in the UK bar the Open.
