The Discovery is a popular museum based on the history of Newcastle, with plenty to intrigue all ages, especially the kids among us.
On permanent display in a new multimedia hands-on maritime gallery is the Turbinia, one of the fastest vessels on the ocean back in 1894, which revolutionised maritime history and crossed the Atlantic unscathed in record time.
The scientifically-minded can get to work in the Science Factory, where the wonders of the world of science are revealed in a series of hands-on, interactive exhibits. Here the wonders of television enable you to fly like a bird down the Tyne, giant microscopes provide extreme close-ups and the magic of mirrors and lights are explored.
