Named after the country retreat of the group of artists, writers and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury Group, the Charleston Festival celebrates a magnificent literary heritage with a series of talks, dicussions, lectures and performances.
The Bloomsbury Group met at Charleston House and in some cases made it their home. The impressive building had its walls decorated by Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell and it is a fitting host for this lively festival, which includes performances, workshops and talks from prominent writers and artists, which this year include Kiran Desai, Giles Foden and Clive James.
The full programme is published on the festival website as soon as it is available.
