Not to be confused with the Atholl Gathering (and its associated Highland Games at Blair Castle), which is in June, the Atholl and Breadalbane Highland Games take place in early August, on Aberfeldy's Victoria Park. Expect a taste of traditional Highland fun and games, from the "heavy" sporting events to the more artistic Scottish dancing and bagpiping.
The popular "heavy" events - the shot putt, hammer throwing and caber tossing - feature large men in tartan sweating profusely as they hurl large objects as far as they can.
