Organised by various associations and dance companies, including the Salsa Schools of Istanbul, the Turkish Republic Salsa Cup is held at Refresh in Istanbul.
The contestants are national dancers competing in the following categories: amateur, semi-professional, professional and show salsa, which includes groups and couples. Judging them is renowned Puerto Rican world champions Jhesus Aponte and Candy Mena, dancer Farid Ferchach and his partner Barbara Cano and Paul Young, the founder of Salsa-UK.
