Buying things in Istanbul can be bewildering, due simply to the excessive amount of choice. Here are a few of the many markets that you can find in the city.
The Spice Bazaar (also called Egyptian Bazaar) has Turkish delight ready to sample, tea glasses and jeans, while the spectacular Grand Bazaar is the place for Asian carpets and woven rugs. More goodies, particularly antiques, can be found on the streets of Cihangir.
Kadikoy, on the Asian side of the Bosphorus, has a bustling flea market every Tuesday. There is plenty of choice here if you're looking for clothes, as well as a wide range of food stalls to wander through. This is a local affair, and far less touristy than the Grand Bazaar.
