The Open Air Gampel festival started as a small local affair in the Eighties and has since grown into one of Switzerland's leading rock events. It now attracts around 50,000 people every year to Gampel's festival grounds.

The festival site is in the Rhone valley, surrounded by the Alps. As well as the main stage, it also offers a tent stage for up-and-coming bands, a host of DJs, a variety of bars and restaurants and a campsite.

Highlights of the 2008 line-up include Nightwish, Beatsteaks, The Hives, The Hoosiers, Mando Diao and Starsailor. For full programme details, please visit the festival website.
