Art lovers from every continent head to Messezentrum Basel for one of the world's leading art shows, Art Basel. Drawing 60,000 visitors, the display includes everything from modern masters to leading lights of the contemporary art scene, including new talent.

Bringing together painting and drawing, sculptures, installations, photography, video, multimedia art and performances, nearly 300 galleries from around the world display works by over 2000 artists.

To gauge the event's international acclaim, one only needs to look at the press. The Paris daily Le Monde gave the show the title La meilleure du monde (The best in the world). The New York Times called it the "Olympics of the Art World", while the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung believes the occasion to be Kunst in ihrer besten Art (Art in its best form).
