Nefertiti Jazz Club
|
Nefertiti is Gothenburg's leading jazz club - a charming and lively city-centre venue founded by enthusiasts and still run as a collective in true Scandinavian style, with great jazz, and a good range of reasonably priced food and drinks.
The Gothenburg Jazz Association, founded in 1969, set the club up in its present venue in 1978, a former school basement in the middle of the city. They also organise concerts all over town to win over the unconverted, but the Nefertiti remains the nerve-centre of their operation.
As for the musical line-up, they're not by any means purists or pedants. As well as straight jazz, the club regularly features blues, Latin and world music, acid jazz, funk and hip-hop.
