An impressive contemporary art gallery on the leafy island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, the Museum of Modern Art displays a permanent collection of 20th-century greats. Challenging exhibitions by contemporary artists also feature.
Pieces include works by Picasso and Salvador Dalí. With a permanent collection numbering 5000 paintings, 25,000 watercolours and 100,000 photographs, the museum has one of the most extensive collections in Europe. The building itself was designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo after an international competition was held for its redesign in 1989.
