Every year since 1988 the Kivik Apple Market has featured one of the world's more bizarre works of art: a "painting" made with as many as 75,000 apples.
The apple work of art is coordinated by artist Emma Karp, with the help of her friends - it is, after all, a very big job. She carries on the tradition of her father, Helge LundstrÃm, who was the original apple artist.
Pictures can measure 12 by eight metres and weigh up to four tons. Needless to say, many varieties of apples are used: Belle de Boskoop, Aroma, Katja, Lobo, Signe Tillisch, Ingrid Marie, Mutzo, James Grieve, Summerred, Kim, Karin Schneider and Yellow Gravenstein included.
