The Iznájar Fair features all-night parties followed by beautiful processions, where musicians walk the streets singing dawn choruses. When the hour gets a little more sociable, everyone attends a Mass.
Part of the festival pays tribute to the patron saint of La Virgen de la Piedad. Devotees accompany the enthroned Virgin, elegantly seated among candles and flowers, in a procession.
Traditionally, those that wished to repent on this day would carry out their penance by donating kilo blocks of wax to the church. Nowadays repenters place a sum of money in the collection box or go to confession.
