Around 800 athletes tackle a 3.8km (2.4 mile) swim, 180km (112.5 mile) cycle and a 42.2km (26.25 mile) run, all in one day, at the Ironman Lanzarote triathlon.
Although this is fundamentally a one-day event, the schedule of activities lasts for a few days, with registration and fun runs in the week leading up to the event itself, and parties and award ceremonies during the evening and day after it.
