Fuerteventura hosts its own leg of the PKRA Kiteboarding Grand Prix tour on the relatively flat waters of Sotovento. There is €75,000 of prize money up for grabs across three categories - Freestyle, Speed and Racing.

Kiteboarders have the opportunity to pool all their tricks in the Freestyle round, and with €55,000 for the taking, standards are high. The judges look out for overall impression, technical difficulty, height, power and smoothness, including landings.

During the competition there is a training area for kiters, as well as a huge tent with guarded material storage, organised activities and parties every night.

In 2008, the Speed category takes place from 19-23 July and the Racing and Freestyle rounds from 29 July to 2 August.
