The Fiesta del virgen del Carmen is celebrated throughout Lanzarote but the focal points are the former capital Teguise, the more touristy coastal areas of Tías, Playa Blanca (Yaiza) and the fishing village of Caleta de Sebo.
The festivities usually include a procession (including all those named after the virgin, Carmen) down to the sea and onto boats, followed by plenty of dancing, drinking, eating and general merrymaking.
