Corpus Christi is celebrated throughout Lanzarote, but the best place to join in is Arrecife. On fiesta day, people head to the Church of San Ginés for a mass honouring the Eucharist, symbolic of the Last Supper.
On the Saturday afternoon following the celebration, the locals make alfombras de sal marina (carpets of sea salt) in elaborate and colourful designs all along the roads and pavements around the Church of San Ginés.
