The Betancuria Museum, located in a restored traditional building in the town of Betancuria, houses five rooms of archaeological exhibits, both paleontological and ethnographic.
The first room is dedicated to the findings from the first European expeditions to the Canary Islands, to Fuerteventura's natural resources and cultural objects relating to the Mahos (people indigenous to the island). The second room recreates the magical-religious world of the indigenous population, with idols, texts and photographic images.
The two paleontological rooms house a selection of panels that aim to explain the evolution of the island with fossils and material found in excavations in Cueva de Villaverde. The ethnographic room has earthenware and ceramics, among other indigenous and popular objects.
