The Laureus World Sports Awards, this year held in the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, is the only global awards ceremony that represents all areas of sport.
Winners are selected by the ultimate sports jury - 42 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, including Chairman Edwin Moses, Boris Becker, Ian Botham, Sebastian Coe, John McEnroe, Bobby Charlton and Martina Navratilova.
In past years, sporting legends such as Roger Federer, Michael Schumacher, Ronaldo, Serena Williams and Lance Armstrong have picked up awards, alongside great sports enthusiasts such as Michael Douglas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Morgan Freeman, Jackie Chan, Sean Connery and Kylie Minogue.
