One of Europe's biggest botanical gardens, the Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences was fashioned from Ostankino Park in the north of Moscow. It opened on 14 April 1945 and has offered a breath of fresh air to Muscovites and visitors ever since. With some 16,000 species from around the globe to enjoy, it's a great way to escape from the hectic pace of the city.
