The Archaeological Museum of Moscow exhibits artefacts dating back to the 12th century. The museum is famous for housing a substantial section of the limestone arches of the Voskresenky Bridge, which used to span the Neglina River.

During excavations for the construction of a new underground shopping centre, evidence was found of dwellings that had existed on the far bank of the river, fragments of which are on show in the museum.

The museum's permanent collection contains finds from all over central Moscow, including ancient jewellery from the 12th century (when Moscow was founded), some 15th-century Spanish doubloons and a variety of Muscovite coins.
