Romania's only international film festival, the Transylvania International Film Festival takes over three cinemas in the Transylvanian capital, Cluj Napoca.

Arranged by Association XXI, the event began in 2002 and includes a competitive strand for first and second feature films. Last year the jury awarded the main prize and the Transylvania trophy to Peruvian director Josue Mendez for Dias de Santiago, a story about a 23 year-old Peruvian soldier returning to Lima and attempting to adapt to a normal life, while the Audience Award went to the French road movie, Aaltra.
