Bucharest welcomes the Chinese New Year with celebrations in Nichita Stanescu Park which include live shows, food exhibitions, firework displays and a red sea of paper lanterns.
Signifying the end of the winter and the start of spring, the Chinese New Year takes place on a different day at the beginning of the year, based on the moon's position relative to the sun. The 2007 celebrations mark the beginning of the Year of the Boar.
