Now into its fourth decade, the annual Wratislavia Cantans brings classical music concerts to Wroclaw. Performances take place in venues which are sights in themselves: the 13th-century Mary-Madeleine Cathedral and the millennium-old Town Hall, both stunning examples of Baroque architecture.
The highlights in 2008 include Benjamin Britten's substantial War Requiem score, staged by over 250 musicians, and an open-air concert of Handel's Firework Music and Water Music. Other featured composers are Bach, Purcell and Elgar.
The atmosphere during the festival is electrifying, with around 2000 performers and 25,000 music lovers streaming into the 1000-year-old city.
Please visit the festival website for details of all concerts, ticket prices and venues.
