The Warsaw International Book Fair, held at the Palace of Culture & Science, is an important meeting point for Western and Eastern European publishers. A flurry of authors, publishers, booksellers, agents and editors flock to the show every year.

Other visitors include media people, politicians and the less glamorous but equally important librarians and teachers.

First held in 1956, the fair has grown from modest beginnings to include representatives from around 30 countries and nearly 600 exhibitors.
