Put your movie knowledge to the test at Krakow's brand new Film Music Festival. Musicians perform well-known tunes from the silver screen at Krakow's Philharmonic Hall and at the open-air Blonia space in the city centre.
The event celebrates 100 years since Camille Saint-Saëns composed the world's first-ever soundtrack for l'Assasinat du duc de Guise. On the first day, the Philharmonic Hall hosts a 100 years of Film Score concert, where the Sinfonietta Cracovia perform tracks from European and American cinema, while audience members sit back and remember their favourite film scenes.
Day two sees an exciting performance in Blonia from French musician Éric Serra, who has written compositions for films such as The Big Blue (1988), The Fifth Element (1997) and Goldeneye (1995).
Then, on 31 May, the Sinfonietta Cracovia, Pro Musica Mundi choir, boys' choirs and soloists all come together to perform the entire score of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings while the film plays in the background.
