For three days each year the Crossroads (Rozstaje) Traditional Music Festival fills the streets of Krakow with folk music from the Carpathian Mountains of the Malopolska region. In 2008, the event celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Due to their surrounding geography, the Carpathian communities are set apart from the rest of Poland and have consequently developed a unique culture and musical style. The concerts, many of which take place in Krakow's main market square, have become quite experimental over the years, with musicians mixing traditional folk with genres such as jazz.
The concert programme, organised by Krakow's Festival Office, also includes films and workshops.
