The brand-new Cracow Screen Festival fuses video installations with live music to create a three-day visual art and concert experience. The performances - from both Polish and international artists - are split between two outdoor stages in Krakow's city centre.
Festival-goers can stick to one stage or switch between the two, which isn't as hectic as it sounds, as they are located close together in Szczepanski and Jan Nowak Jezioranski Squares.
The headliners for the first-ever event are Juliette and the Licks, Bryan Ferry and cirKus with Neneh Cherry and Burt Ford. Other international artists include Danish duo The Raveonettes and British dance masters Underworld, while home-grown Polish talent comes in the shape of Wilki, Pudelsi, CKOD and Smolik, among others.
Multimedia installations accompany each concert, projected onto the stage and nearby Old Town buildings, so the audience is completely enveloped by the artistic project. The most-anticipated video installation comes from Floria Sigismondi, who has previously worked on music videos for David Bowie, Marylin Manson, Björk and Christina Aguilera.
