Over 1400 runners take part in the Cracovia Marathon, starting and finishing at Krakow's open grassland, Blonia. The 26-mile route heads east from the Old Town, through the districts of Stradom and Kazmierz, and as far as Nowa Huta.
The athletes race out to the half-way point in Krakow's most eastern district, and have to return to where they started. The first ten across the finish line receive cash prizes, the top being Zl18,000.
