The open-air Norwegian Folk Museum exhibits traditional building styles from around the country in a large park on Bygdøy Peninsula. Carefully relocated and reconstructed, one of the highlights is a wooden stave church from the 13th century.

Permanent exhibits include displays of Norwegian Folk Art, Norwegian Folk Dress, Sami Culture, Norway's First Hall of Parliament, Antique Toys, The Pharmacy in The Old Town and the "Watering hole" from the 1820s. It also houses the Bygdø Royal Farm and its farmyard, so cultivated fields and grazing lands are part of the grounds. There is usually also a temporary exhibit and cultural events take place throughout the year - summer is a particularly busy time.
