The Kon-Tiki Museum on Bygdøy Peninsula contains boats and artefacts from Thor Heyerdahl's expeditions, from the original Kon-Tiki raft (1947) to a 30-foot whale shark and statues from Easter Island. There are also finds from Galapagos and Peru.
Tied to the museum is the Institute for Pacific Archaeology and Cultural History, which researches and supports other scientists with different grants.
