The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, held at venues throughout the city, is an important part of the international circuit for documentary makers and annually screens around 200 films in different formats and themed programmes.
Founded in 1998, the festival attracts audiences of around 60,000 each year and is an important networking forum for industry professionals - filmmakers, distributors and financial backers.
Three competition programmes include one for the long documentary (exceeding 60 minutes) and one for shorts (60 minutes or less). Both video and film documentaries are eligible for these categories. In the third competition programme, debut films compete for the First Appearance Award.
Another highlight is the Top 10, in which a leading filmmaker chooses his or her favourite documentaries. Please visit the festival website for full details of the programme.
