Open to classical composers under 35 years old, the annual International Gaudeamus Music Week, with concerts at venues in Amsterdam including the Bimhuis and Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, is a competitive music festival.
Every year the festival's jury selects 17 works out of more than 280 entries, written by composers from 54 different countries. Awarded the Gaudeamus Prize and a sum of €4550, the winner also has the honour of composing a piece for the next year's event.
