With eyes confidently on the horizon, legs wide and arms clutched to her waist, the bronze statue Belle, at the Oudekerkplein in Amsterdam's Walletjes Red Light district, pays tribute to prostitutes around the world.
Unveiled on 31 March 2007, the statue was designed by artist Els Rijerse, and is an initiative of Mariska Majoor, ex-prostitute and founder of the Prostitution Information Centre.
